Matty Whitmore, who made headlines when he proposed to his girlfriend, Jamie Mass, during an episode of “Survivor Gabon,” has replaced her homemade necklace with a more traditional sparkler. The 29-year-old personal trainer from Pacific Palisades, proposed on a dock in Africa during family visits, with a necklace made from materials he found around his campsite.
During Sunday’s reunion show, Matty said he is still engaged and wedding plans are proceeding. “We have a date,” he says. “We’re completely on top of everything, the color schemes, the food.” He adds that when he got home, he replaced the necklace with a ring saying, “I got her the LA version. It was a little different, but it looks good.”
Matty, who came in third place on the show, says, “I may not have completed the game the way I wanted to do, but I did succeed in getting engaged, and that was probably the most important thing to me with coming on the show.”
His fiance, who was sitting in the audience, flashed the engagement ring which has a beautiful round center stone with pave diamonds around it.
